This 74 year old lady had a positive stool tests and a number of lesions resected. This included a large lesion in the left colon. The latter images demonstrate the follow up scar which on further biopsies and resection was clear of any residual disease !

This 37 year old lady had 2 large lesions found for evaluation of unrelated abdominal pain. One was flat and had a mucous cap as the "give away" clue; the other was on a large stalk. They were completely resected using different techniques. She went home the same day. She requires close surveillance to remove any subsequent lesions that might arise.

55 year old gentleman referred for removal of a lesion found at colonoscopy for a positive stool test. The lesion lifted and resected well except at the biopsy site. The stuck down section had to be avulsed with forceps. The margin of the lesion was ablated to reduce the risk of residual polypoid tissue.

This 27 year old lady had an endoscopy performed for significant fatigue, iron deficiency anaemia and positive celiac serology. The villi (finger like projections) in her duodenum are very flat suggesting Celiac disease. This was confirmed on biopsies. The latter 3 images show a normal duodenum for comparison. The patient should improve with a gluten free diet 🌯 which will allow villi to regenerate and improve digestive function.

This 68 year old lady with rectal bleeding had a pre-malignant pedunculated lesion (villous adenoma) removed after the base of the polyp was clipped to prevent bleeding.

Two lesions - two different resection approaches: This 32 year old gentleman has been having recurrent lower abdominal pains. A CT scan found a mass in his mid colon. This was confirmed on colonoscopy and the "tugging" of the polyp may have accounted for the pain. This was removed over a ligating loop (the polyp was simply fatty tissue). A flatter but potentially more serious serrated lesion was found not too far and also completely removed by chromogelofusine endoscopic mucosal resection.

This 62 year old has been having regular colonoscopies elsewhere. On this occasion over 40 ! flat lesions were noted including a large dominant lesion (sessile serrated polyp) which has grown after previous incomplete resection. The lesion was removed by endoscopic mucosal resection but due to the base being stuck from scar tissue the patient required observation for pain for several days. Most of the smaller lesions were resected with a thin wire snare. She will return in 6 months to check on the EMR site and remove the remainder of the lesions. She has serrated polyposis syndrome and will ask her first degree to be screened.

This 47 year old female with significant iron deficiency anaemia was noted to have multiple ulcers at the end of her small intestine. These were caused by excess use of nurofen (anti-inflammatory). After an iron infusion and cessation of nurofen the iron deficiency resolved. Please discuss prolonged use of anti-inflammatories (or any over the counter medications) with your family doctor !
